Slit lamp test

The slit lamp test is a common test for diagnosing different eye conditions. The doctor uses a microscope called the slit lamp to judge if you are making enough tears. The slit lamp gives your ophthalmologist a good look into your eye structure.

Schrimer’s test

This schrimer’s test is performed to find out how often your eyes produce tears. A piece of paper is placed on the edge of your lower eyelid to find out the amount of tears your eye produces in 5 minutes. More than 10 mm of moisture after 5 minutes indicates a normal tear production.

Tear break up time (TBUT)

The purpose of this test is to find out how long do your tears last for after you blink your eye. A dye is added to the eye. Then the tear film is observed under the slit lamp. The patient will be required to avoid blinking his/her eyes till dry spots are formed, drying up within 5 seconds is considered to be a poor sign. TBUT testing is particularly effective in diagnosing dry eye in Bi-polar patients.

Dilated eye exam

A simple and painless test, this eye exam is a very easy way to keep your eye health in check regularly. You will be asked some questions about your vision and then put some eye drops to dilate your pupil and check for different diseases.
